About Dry Stone Groves

Cultivating Virginia's agricultural heritage, one stone at a time

Our Story

Dry Stone Groves, LLC was established on February 1, 2026, as a Virginia company with a vision rooted in tradition and patience. Our name reflects our commitment to building dry stone walls and stone features around our nut tree groves and fields, creating a landscape that honors both agricultural heritage and natural beauty.

Located in the rolling hills of south-central Virginia near Cumberland, we are in the early stages of establishing our chestnut and black walnut groves. Like all great things, these groves take time to mature - but we believe the wait will be worth it.

Our Vision

The 20-Year Plan

Dry Stone Groves represents our long-term commitment to sustainable agriculture. We're one year into establishing our first chestnut stand, with plans for black walnut groves to follow. These trees will provide premium nuts for generations to come.

Supporting the Ecosystem

While our groves mature, we're cultivating seasonal vegetables and cover crops that support both our trees and our community. Our diverse crops build soil health for the maturing trees.

Traditional Craftsmanship

The dry stone walls that will eventually frame our groves represent more than boundaries - they're a commitment to traditional craftsmanship and the belief that some things are worth doing the old way.
